Director of Sales and Business Development - Premier Life Plan Community

We are seeking an accomplished Director of Sales and Business Development to lead our sales strategy, elevate the customer experience, and drive occupancy at our premier, five‑star Life Plan Community.

Your Mission: The Director of Sales and Business Development provides high‑impact, visible leadership for a premier Life Plan Community, overseeing all aspects of the community's sales operations and the successful promotion of Life Care Contracts. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales Strategy, this role is responsible for leading and optimizing people, processes, and programs to achieve occupancy, revenue, and growth objectives. The Director establishes and monitors measurable sales goals-including inquiries, calls, appointments, event participation, deposits, and census-while championing a disciplined, results‑driven sales culture that delivers a five‑star, resort‑style luxury experience.
As a senior leader and brand ambassador, the Director ensures sales and marketing priorities are clearly communicated and aligned with the broader community leadership team, reinforcing a unified focus on exceptional customer engagement and satisfaction. In close collaboration with the Corporate Communities Marketing Manager and under the strategic guidance of the Director of Sales Strategy, this role leads the development and execution of high‑impact sales initiatives, events, and quarterly marketing plans designed to drive demand, strengthen brand positioning, and sustain the community's reputation as a market‑leading destination for premier senior living.

Some of the main responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Director of Sales Strategy, Corporate Communities Marketing manager to develop and execute marketing plans to achieve optimal sales/occupancy goals and meet or exceed projections.
- Demonstrate an expertise and knowledge of current best practices in successful selling skills.
- Plans, coordinates and hosts events for the lead base and professionals and resident referral events to increase traffic into the community.
- Demonstrates proficiency in pulling, analyzing, and completing sales reports.
- Maintains an active, working knowledge of current competition and any new entrants or changes in the market.
- Establish and maintain relationships with professionals to create community awareness and drive occupancy.
- Meets or exceeds the sales activity standards as determined by the Director of Sales Strategy. These sales activity standards include quotas for daily telephone lead base follow up calls, appointment, on-site sales activities, and other sales related performance metrics.
- Plan and direct all sales activities, which includes managing the community's Sales Associates and Sales Support staff ("sales team").
- Generate sales referrals from professionals, potential residents, and community contacts. Helps conduct sales presentations and events designed to increase sales leads.
- Respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
- Provide accurate reports to all appropriate parties utilizing, in part, the CRM.
- Maintain regular contact with existing leads and prospects and tracks progress.
- Participate in ongoing personal training and development through constant improvement in selling skills by attending sales training meetings and reading motivational and sales-oriented material.
- Remain informed about the local real estate market, the customer profile in your market, competitor communities, and industry and customer trends.
- Build trust and strong cross functional relationships within the community and operational structure.
- Work closely with the Director of Sales Strategy to establish a weekly exchange of information on inventory and other sales issues to anticipate and prioritize next steps, as well as communicate with the internal sales team.

Supervisory responsibilities:
- Ensure that the sales team follows the SHSL sales processes, including the maintaining of up to date and accurate records of progress within the CRM.
- Supervise all members of the sales team including coordinating and approving time off, training and motivating, conducting performance evaluations, counseling, while directing and managing the workflow of the department.
- Review residency applications to identify and correct any issues prior to submission for approval.
- Manage, process, and verify canceled and transferred leads and waiting lists.
- Responsible for the sales team achieving the community's sales and move-in goals.
- Ensures the sales team meet company standards of sales performance.
- Provide outstanding sales leadership and management skills to ensure top performance by all members of the department.
- Coach and mentor sales team within the department to ensure consistent top performance, fosters cooperative sales behavior, and ensures success in achieving sales and occupancy goals.
- Provide training to ensure accurate reporting and distribution of reports to appropriate parties.
- Provide input into the development of marketing and sales plans to achieve occupancy goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Public Relations/Communications or related field preferred.
- Three to five years' experience in marketing, sales, senior living, life plan, CCRD with proven track record required.
- Leadership experience required.
- Experience with lead management database system required.
